About the Company
Our client is one of the World’s largest manufacturers of automated distribution and sortation equipment, for the Automated Distribution and Baggage Handling Markets. They also supply automated packaging solutions to manufacturing firms across the world. The business are widely regarded as having the most advanced systems in the world, thus why are used by the likes of DPD, Fedex and Hermes Parcelnet.
Thanks to the boom in the Automated Distribution market, and end users extending and upgrading existing sites, plus building brand new sites, the business are experiencing a rapid period of growth, not only in the UK, but Worldwide. Thanks to this growth, they are now expanding their UK Service division, with four brand new Field Service Engineer Position.
About the role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for visiting customers sites to perform a mix of routine planned overhauls and installation project work. Most of the work will be electrical in nature focused around the PLC systems (hardware and software), looking at areas to improve line efficiencies. This would include modification to code, parameters and upgrading all affiliated inputs and outputs.
The vast majority of work will be Midlands based, however the Field Service Engineer will need to travel to the North and South of England when required by their customers. All site visits are booked months in advance so as the end users can plan to have a specific line down to allow full access.
Most of the time, due to the size of the sites, the Field Service Engineers would be working in teams of five or six. Being that some of these sites are as large as 10 Football pitches, it can take over 20 minutes to walk from one end of a site to another, so a good level of physical fitness is a must.
