A unique opportunity has just become available for a Automotive Tutor with education and training in motor vehicle maintenance, looking to share their skills and expertise with KS4 pupils in Havering.
This school provides specialist provision for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges. The ability to mentor vulnerable pupils and manage challenge behaviour is essential in this role.
The school in Barking and Dagenham provides education for pupils aged 5 to 19 years, all with EHC Plans for complex SEMH, mental health and behavioural needs. Many pupils are struggling with the challenges of Autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, opposition defiance disorder and conduct disorder. Others have suffered traumatic experiences, which have affected their learning and behaviour. The Automotive Tutor will be based at the motor vehicle vocational site in Havering, only working with KS4 pupils in small groups.
Pupils at this school have often already attended several other specialist provisions before. Many have experienced highly disrupted education and training and inconsistent support. The behavioural challenges of these students can be immense and the school are looking for an Automotive Tutor who understands that behaviour is a means of communication for these children. There is an extensive therapy team on site who work closely with the teaching and support teams.
The role will initially be through the agency, but there will be an opportunity to for the position to be made permanent in February 2020.
Automotive Tutor must have:
* Strong Automotive knowledge
* Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs
* Experience working in a school setting with complex behaviour highly desired
* Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable youth, patience and professionalism
* Strong belief in the potential of every child and the right of every child to receive support
* 2 professional references and an enhanced DBS check
