What is involved?
The Stony Stratford Activity group meets every Tuesday between 10am and noon at Swinfen Harris Hall, London Road in Stony Stratford, MK11 1JA. The group offers people affected by dementia the opportunity to take part in structured activities and to relax and socialise in a safe and supportive environment. We're looking for volunteers to come along to the group at 9.40am to help set out the tables and chairs and ideally to help put them away again when the group finishes at noon. The role only requires a very small amount of time yet it is vital as it ensures the tables and chairs are safely and correctly laid out and then put away again. We'd love to hear from people who can help with both setting up and clearing away or with just one of the tasks. We'd also welcome interest from anyone who might be able to help on a fortnightly rather than weekly basis or who would like to remain to assist at the Activity group once they've helped with the tables and chairs.
This role will suit you if you...
Are physically able to lift and move light furniture such as chairs and trestle tables
Would really like to help out and volunteer but don't have a lot of free time
Are willing to undergo training required for the role
The impact you will make…
By helping to set out the tables and chairs at the Group, you'll be helping to create a welcoming and safe environment in which people affected by dementia can relax, socialise and experience an enjoyable afternoon.
