The universal children's services is one of the major areas of activity within the division. The post holder will deputise for the head of service for 0-5s and head of service 5-19s who are managerially accountable for operational management and performance for these areas. The post holder will take a lead role in planning and overseeing the implementation of some city wide service improvements across the 0-19 services.
The post holder will deputise for the heads of service to take forward significant service redesign to improve delivery of high quality universal and targeted services for children in this portfolio, ensuring services are designed to deliver public health priorities and improved outcomes for the children of Birmingham.
To ensure that the strategic aims and objectives for the Universal Children's Services within the Children and Families Division are delivered and achieved, the post holder will be responsible for performance through delegation in the absence of the heads of service.
The deputy head of service will work as part of a team with the operational managers who manage the clinical teams, and with clinical leads, to promote the ethos of a clinically led, managerially supported culture within the universal children's services.
The post holder may also be required to represent the children and families division at a corporate level as and when necessary.
