The MTC operations business unit is seeking an additional Group Business Development Manager to work closely with one of our three Technology Groups (Digital Engineering, Advanced Production Systems and Component Manufacturing Technologies) to develop new business and manage the flow of business to the Technology Group. As part of the business development team, this person will be a technically astute, experienced sales or account manager, able to make a significant contribution to the business development team and assigned Technology Group.
To support the growth of MTC operations business by identifying, qualifying and securing new opportunities. The role will include working closely with technology groups and the BD team to promote and win business for the MTC with clients in the North West region.
Representing MTC to new and existing customers and stakeholders.
Working closely with the LJMU and trade bodies such as Mersey Maritime to develop and maintain a structured pipeline of work. Development of sales strategy and collateral for the region which integrates with and supports the sales strategies for the technology groups. Coaching and mentoring of engineers in commercial matters. Negotiation with clients. Coordination with HVMC.
The role requires the person to integrate as a member of the BD team and the local team in Liverpool. In this capacity, the ability to build fruitful working relationships at all levels internally and externally is vital. These relationships will be based on various foundations, from shared technology understanding through to a drive for new business development. Experience with advanced technology, multiple sectors and selling a service rather than a product would be advantageous. The ideal candidate will be able to operate independently but recognise and integrate with the team environments as required.
Structured pipeline for the region.
Develop £2M per year of new business.
Develop and implement Sales strategy and plan for the region.
Organisation skills, ability to relate to all levels of an organisation, capable public speaker, team player, ideally with an established network in the North West and able to work on sensitive projects if needed.
Responsibilities will include:
Managing the flow of opportunities through the
Writing bids and proposals
Coaching engineers in commercial matters
Working with Themes to prepare the sales
propositions for each Technology Group and Theme
Opening up new opportunities - especially around
Degree in a technical discipline, masters` level preferred.
You will have a high level of Integrity, developed Influencing skills and a good appreciation of technology linked to persistence and perseverance and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A technical background will be advantageous as will a degree in a technical subject, the role involves explaining and discussing highly technical concepts with non-technical people.
This role would suit someone with a technology background who has subsequently moved or is looking to move into a sales role.
As this position may involve working within the Defence sector candidates should be able to gain Security Clearance if required.
