We offer a wide range of careers. At Screwfix, we’ve got something for everyone – from our Head Office to our Contact Centre to our Trade Counters. We created nearly 1,000 new jobs in 2014 and we’re not going to stop there. We take great pride in delivering award-winning levels of customer service and are looking for people from all walks of life to help our customers get the job done.
Wherever you join us, you’ll be part of a unique multi-channel business. We focus on delivering incredible convenience, being product leaders and promising excellent value. To do that we need to have outstanding people who have the energy and skills and the customer understanding to deliver our growth plans.
Well over 90% of our people recommend working for Screwfix, and it’s fair to say we are leading the way for the Kingfisher Group when it comes to engaging our people. And we make sure we offer everyone a balanced and competitive reward package alongside great opportunities to learn and grow.
Being part of Kingfisher gives us the ability to offer an award winning company pension scheme as well as a whole host of other benefits that you would expect from the world’s 3rd largest (and Europe’s biggest) DIY retailer.
Our growth also offers fantastic career development opportunities supported by accredited training programmes. Over 50% of our retail management teams are promoted from within and even some of our Board members are internal promotions.
In Screwfix great people really can have a great career with great benefits.
Our philosophy is to provide employees with a balanced and competitive reward package. Helping you save for the future as well as enjoying the present by providing a happy culture is very important to us. The list below details the core elements which are available to all employees. Additional elements such as company cars and bonus will be dependent on the nature of the role you are undertaking.
We’re dedicated to providing everyone at Screwfix with the training they need to do their jobs well. That’s how we help sustain our phenomenal growth and deliver great service to our customers.
Our dedicated and well resourced training team work with our local managers to make sure training is delivered in a timely and effective way to everyone in our business – whether they are new starters, store teams, in our Contact Centre or in Head Office.
The range of training we offer is huge. It includes everything from First Aid, Health & Safety and customer service skills to personal, supervisory and management development. We also provide individuals with support for externally accredited professional qualifications. In fact, there are almost too many courses to list. What we can say is that when our employees were independently asked by Gallup to score whether they are encouraged to train and develop at Screwfix – the average answer for these questions exceeds 4 out of 5.
As we’re growing so fast, there are enormous opportunities for individuals at Screwfix to develop and progress. Our programmes will help you to achieve your goals and realise your potential – particularly if you’re looking for a career in management.
Hundreds of people take part in our development programmes, including around 10% of our store colleagues. Our fantastic training is a big reason why well over 50% of our new and vacant management roles are filled by people who are already part of the Screwfix team.
Our First Steps and Fast Track programmes have been specifically designed to help our store colleagues move from Service Assistant right through to Store Manager, with some of our programmes externally accredited. If you join our Fast Track to Branch Manager Programme for example, you’ll study towards an ILM Level 4 Diploma in Leadership and Management. The training doesn’t stop there, as we then encourage high performing store managers to join our Excellence in Management programme.
